Resolutions!

All it takes is a beautiful day, rising early in the morning and a small list of things to do, which get done, to make you compile a longer list of things to do!
As I sit around the house in the early afternoon, looking around I see a lifetime of things to do and feel the excitement to get started!

For my blog, I should post daily. I have wanted to add links and text, upload photos, and start themes to post about. I resolve to work on the blog everyday to make it the best tool for me. On it goes!

Hurrah, Rafa!!!

Congrats on your win! Thank you for making me spend 7 hours in agony, hoping against all hope that you would win, not letting me feel secure in your win even with you up two sets to zero! We are seeing not a changing of the guard, but the making of a true rivalry, two equals working to make each better, looking for an edge to beat the other player. Your grace and class remind us of all that is good in sports, the willingness to throw mind and body into physical exhaustion in order to elevate the sport itself. Looking to see you here in NYC....

Sitting in a crowded room, watching the Belmont, the frenzy reaching a crescendo, everyone was excited as they all "know" that they will see history in the making, the first horse to win the Triple Crown in 30 years. Except that doesn't happen, and Big Brown finishes last. The room falls silent, dead silent, aware that what they have seen isn't very important at all. I doubt that many people will remember next week the name of the horse that was going for it this week. After the race, the questions started. What is wrong? Let's take lab work, let's second guess his trains. Maybe he is a horse, not a machine. Maybe a bad day, maybe he just didn't run like the wind. Maybe we are not as in control as we wish, maybe this is why we still need to run the race. Cheers, Big Brown.

SUMMERIZING!

So, we have been bopping along, mid-70's in the day... jeans and long sleeve shirts... Tomorrow...mid-90's and humid! I am looking to summerize my apartment in one night! Out comes the shorts and sandals, sundresses and tanks, room divider, fans to be cleaned, air conditioners to be put in... The heat wave will be here for 5 days and then temperatures dip to the mid-80's. Time for a change in the seasons!
Maybe I need to work on my tan!

auld lang....

This last week I reached out to those wonderful people who filled my life with laughter, joy, warmth and friendship.... memories new and old.

to each of you, I wish you well...you have taught me so much and more than once, I've thought what would they do? to those of you in pain or having a rough road to hoe right now, trust me, I have been there, and I know the heartache and pain. It will get easier, bittersweet though it will remain. To those of you in the best place of your life, I cannot express how thrilled I am that you have reached your goals and have come up with new ones. You inspire me and thrill me with every event in your life. To each of you, I am so proud to call you my friend, and you have a special place in my heart that will never be filled.

Cheers!
Jean

Do you recognize this? No.... don't worry, not everyone would. Upon watching the conclusion of the NYC marathon last year, watching the stragglers in the midst, I thought... if they could do it, so could I! I swore to try out for the marathon this year, with somewhat of a trepidation. I might actually get in! If so, I would have to start training! "shudder" I saw how hard Hugh worked the last two years, and I am very proud of him and all he accomplished. :-) He wasn't the one I was inspired by, though. The ones who inspired me were the walkers, the people who looked in worse shape than me, and were out there, having the time of their life, and grabbing the opportunity by the horns! Maybe next year! :-)

My brush with Fame!

Okay, so it is not my fame, I can only wish! I was walking home by Bryant Park tonight and walked right through the red carpet for the 2008 CFDA Fashion Awards, (me and a few thousand other commuters) and literally walked right into Kim Cattrell! It was just a small bump. She was getting out of her car, and I was walking in the street to avoid the crowd. She is beautiful and the dress was amazing! Naturally, she was surrounded by PR, but you could hear all of the fotogs as she was walking up the Red Carpet going "Kim Kim!" Naturally, not knowing what the event was, I assumed it was a "Sex and the City" and started looking for the other stars. I moved further down the street, maybe ten feet or so, and got great views of Posh and Becks, Eva and Tony, one of the Olsens, and Michael Kors. There was a group of 4 girls behind me getting more excited by the moment and a rather blase guy announcing everyone arriving between us. "Oh, that's Tom Ford, don't you know what magazine he's with? No, I work for the competition, Conde Nast, right across the street." "That's Hillary Duff... the next car, uumm that is nobody." Looking to my left, I could just see the black limos lining up and the people running up and down the street taking pictures with cell phones trying to see through the tinted windows. As commuters realized there was a red carpet event, they were running accross 42nd Street to get a better view. It was amazing. The last car pulled up and I thought I had had enough fabulousness for the day...time to go home!
I just said to someone I never see celebrities, but between this and eating lunch two tables over from Mariska Hargitay last Friday, all of a sudden, I feel very magnetic! :-)
